How many emotions in five minutes?

Children experience a wide gamut of emotions and their minds are constantly whirring away processing new sounds, sights, sensations, as well as learning to use their physical selves to communicate and participate in the world around them. So, why stop them in their tracks to try to persuade them to smile for your camera?! Why not instead try to catch every nuance of expression, happy or sad, excited or puzzled, frustrated or angry. Don't get me wrong, if a spontaneous smile occurs - winner! - but I believe this shouldn't be the be-all and end-all if your objective is to truly capture your little one's personality. That was the aim of this quickfire portrait session - and blimey did we get some variety!
